Eighty Seven enthusiastic youngsters had a foretaste of the cradle of Salesian vocations at Don Bosco Lonavala, as they reflected on their own Vocation. `The Seniors` Vocation Camp for Aspirants witnessed forty five youngsters from May 2-6, while `the Juniors` camp for Apostolic boys registered forty two youngsters from May 8-11, 2012. On Friday May 10, 2013, five hundred members of the Konkani Community gathered together for a presentation on Small Christian Communities (SCCs). This was the first in a series of faith-related discourses planned by the community in this Year of Faith. The Salesian Province of Kolkata bid a tearful farewell to Fr. Jacob Champanil SDB as his mortal remains were laid to rest at the Salesian cemetery at Basilica at 2.00 PM, on May 11, 2013. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Gomes, SDB the Bishop of Krishnagar with around 100 concelebrants. A large number of faithful including Salesian Family members, other Religious, parishioners and boarding children were present at the funeral. His close relatives participated in the ceremonies with inexplicable bereavement and sorrow. His nephew Fr. With profound grief I share with you the news that Fr. Jacob Champanil, SDB belonging to the community of Don Bosco Yuva Jyoti, Berhampore, West Bengal, passed away this morning at the age of 62. Fr. Jacob carried out his normal duties till yesterday and had no complaint of any ill health. This morning when the members of the community did not find him around, they went to look for him in his room and found him dead. Police was called and the mortal remains of Fr. Jacob was taken for the post-mortem. The body will be shifted to Kolkata as soon as the procedures and completed. The funeral will be on SATURDAY, 11th May, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Bandel Basilica. Fr.
